MARRIAGE AS GOD INTENDED

Marriage is God’s big idea, it is an institution created by God Himself. Many people come up with myriads of wrong philosophies about marriage based on their experiences, cultural beliefs and societal expectations because they do not truly understand God’s plan for marriage. God has a plan and intention for marriage, and if your marriage would work as single or married person then you have to work it God’s way by taking your time to understand the principle that governs marriage.

So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1:27-28 NKJV

In the beginning, God gave marriage a purpose. God initiated the concept of marriage, Adam never thought he was alone, God thought so. God created marriage for dominion. The reason we get married is beyond love. Someone once said feelings are poor leaders but great followers. How true! I always ask people “Is love a feeling you feel when you feel a feeling you have never felt before?” Love is beyond emotion, Love is a decision and an action word. As Believers, God did not tell us to fall in love but to walk in God.

Falling in love means you can also fall out of love. Walking in love takes intentionality and spirituality.
The God kind of love, Agape, is God himself and is different from natural love.
1 Corinthians 13 defines the God kind of love. It is patient, and kind, not boastful or proud.

I believe every marriage is different because individuals are unique. I see people compare their marriages with other people’s marriages, only compare your marriage with the standard of the Word. You can’t run your marriage naturally or like the world and expect supernatural results. You can’t live your marriage to chance or fate if you want it to work. The Scripture says the blessings of the Lord make one rich and adds no sorrow to it, marriage is a blessing, since it’s from God then there is no evil involved in it except the ones you open the doors to. Marriage is not a necessary evil as some have painted it to be, marriage is God’s gift to humanity and God’s gift is perfect. The God kind of love is the basis for marriage. The God kind of love is always seeking how to give and not just receiving.
